Paul Robeson & The Douglass--Lincoln Debates

Cincinnati Black Theatre Company with Actors & Playwrights Collaborative in conjunction with National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Will Present Two Plays in 2025

Paul Robeson chronicles the life of Robeson from New Jersey childhood to international stardom as singer, actor, and civil rights icon. James Earl Jones originated the role in the play’s Broadway premiere. Former Cincinnati City Councilman Wendell Young will portray Robeson. 

The Douglass-Lincoln Debates is based on historical facts and the meetings of celebrated orator, author and abolitionist Frederick Douglass and President Abraham Lincoln. North Carolina native and actor Steffon Sharpless plays Frederick Douglass and Virginia native and playwright Doug Miron plays President Abraham Lincoln.

Actors & Playwrights Collaborative is a group of like-minded actors, directors, playwrights and producers dedicated to the development of new scripts and the production of new works.
