Adapted from Langston Hughes 'Black Nativity. Black Nativity, originally performed in 1961, was a celebration of more than just Christmas. Featuring a richly expressive and soulful sound, Black Nativity illuminates not only the story of baby Jesus, but also the beauty of gospel music and liturgical dance, which transports audiences into a world of celebration and reverence. CBTC is the only theatre company in Cincinnati to produce this cherished work and now presents Black Nativity: Jesus: The Word Made Flesh

This year’s production takes a fresh approach with innovative ideas, intentional storytelling, and exciting artistic choices that bring renewed energy to the stage. The Nativity story unfolds through the experiences of four teens as they wrestle with life's difficult questions. They discover the hope, healing, and transformative power found in Jesus Christ. This season of Black Nativity is sure to be a reminder that Jesus is the true reason for the season.
